How to prepare for your Ed.D. comprehensive exam?

General Guidelines

Regardless of the questions posed in the comprehensive exam:

○ Use the 🔗Manuscript Checklist to ensure you have all the necessary details written down. The questions may be phrased in different ways, but the committee wants to see you demonstrate the knowledge outlined in Chapters 1, 2 and 3 of the 🔗Manuscript Checklist.
○ 🔗Define Terms to Ensure Construct Clarity
○ 🔗Ensure The Connections Among Construct, Theory, Theoretical Framework, and Methods in Research
○ The writing of the methods section of qualitative research has been weak. Use these 🔗resources and exemplars to improve your writing.
○ We change our comprehensive exam questions every year. For your reference, this is the document for 🔗Comprehensive Exam 2025 Cohort XIII.docx

📅 Key Dates for 2026 Ed.D. Cohort XIII Comprehensive Exam

Students will submit to their questions to their chair and Dr. Sauers no later than Jan. 12.

Chairs will work with their second member to provide feedback and score each question. Feedback must be sent to Dr. Sauers by noon on Jan. 26.

All students will receive their results from Dr. Sauers on Jan. 26.

Students will have until Feb. 9 to resubmit minor revisions and March 2 for major revisions.
